In season (from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day) between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., dogs must be on a leash that does not exceed six feet. At all other times dogs must be restrained on a leash that is retractable to 12 feet.

The most likely source is the Algonquin Indian word “Chicahauk” which may have been a Native American village in the area.
