In the American Remake, Lara only gets the warning during her bubble bath from Janet to leave. However, she eventually ignores it after another fight with Maddie. Unlike in the American Remake, Sakurai is more sympathetic to Mariko's plight as he has been investigating the mysterious suicides.
I was wondering whether to bother checking out the original, but it isn't scoring high enough relative to the remake (which was hot trash) to seem worth it. Too bad, the premise is actually pretty good (if not super novel), but the execution was fucking terrible in the remake and I was hoping the original would make something worthwhile of it.
I agree the Japanese version is way better, creepy atmosphere the actors were better, they do have a remake of this movie with Rebecca de mornay, it's pretty good for a remake worth a watch.
Given the fact that the original Japanese "Apartment 1303" wasn't particularly much to write home about, then you would think that director Michael Taverna would have it nice and easy here to make it into a better remake.
