Watching its opening shots of Joaquin Phoenix making an unabashed declaration of eternal love to an unseen soul mate is immediately disarming. The actor is so unaffected, so sincere, so drained of the tortured eccentricity that's a hallmark of most of the roles that he plays.

  2. I absolutely loved the premise of the story and how it developed. I think it is a movie that has for the most part, slipped by a lot of people, it is simply underrated. Sure, the story sounds laughable, but with the movie succeeding in drawing the viewer in, getting them to actually care - that is no joke. That is art.
