As a result of the First Silesian War the Duchy of Oels (Oleśnica) came under suzerainty of the Kingdom of Prussia in 1742. Following administrative reform in 1807 during the Napoleonic Wars, Oels became the seat of Landkreis Oels in the Province of Silesia, remaining capital of the Duchy of Oels

Oleśnica County From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Oleśnica County (Polish: powiat oleśnicki) is a unit of territorial administration and local government (powiat) in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, south-western Poland. It was created on January 1, 1999 as a result of the Polish local government reforms passed in 1998.
It was the seat of the Dukes of Oleśnica until the nineteenth century. A fortified settlement was mentioned before the year 1238, and the first record of the castle dates from 1292.  After World War II , the surviving buildings held Hungarian and Italian prisoners of war.
During the reign of King Kazimierz Wielki, Oleśnica was the seat of a Roman Catholic parish, which covered the area of 49 square kilometers. The village furthermore served as main residence of the noble Oleśnicki family (later, it belonged to the Zborowski family and the Lubomirski family ).
Konrad I of Oleśnica (c. 1294 – 22 December 1366) was a Duke of Żagań and Ścinawa during 1309–1312 (with his brothers as co-rulers), Duke of Oleśnica, Namysłów, Gniezno and Kalisz during 1312–1313 (with his brother as co-ruler), Duke of Kalisz during 1313–1314 (alone), Duke of Namysłów from 1313 (alone) and Duke of Oleśnica from 1321 until his death (alone).

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Barbara of Oleśnica (Polish: Barbara oleśnicka) (1465 – 1479) was a member of the House of Piast and Duchess of Oleśnica during 1475–1478. She was the only child of Konrad IX the Black, Duke of Oleśnica by his wife Margareta, daughter of Duke Siemowit V of Rawa.

Oleśnica Oleśnica [ɔlɛɕˈɲiʦa], tyska: Oels, är en stad i Nedre Schlesiens vojvodskap i sydvästra Polen. Administrativt utgör staden en stadskommun, med 37 307 invånare 2014, och är dessutom huvudort i distriktet Powiat oleśnicki.
