Artificial Emotional Intelligence is the sixth episode of Season 5, and the forty fourth episode overall. It premiered on April 29, 2018.
Richard decides to help when Laurie Bream gets in a jam, but his lack of emotional discipline threatens to backfire on Pied Piper; Gavin Belson tries to make a deal with the stubborn Jian-Yang while in China; Dinesh relishes a rare win; Jared bonds with a surprising figure, Fiona, a robot with artificial intelligence that first appeared in the previous episode.
Laurie Bream is now CEO at Eklow, the previous CEO, a man who was very creepy with Fiona, has been apprehended. Richard returns Fiona to Eklow despite Jared's reluctance. Richard assures Jared that she will be just fine. But as soon as Fiona's back in the Eklow lab, she's dismantled for parts for Laurie Bream to sell.
Richard giving Laurie Bream one of Fiona's shirts is a very subtle callback to "The Empty Chair", in which Richard complained that "the Laurie-Tron 6000 isn't programmed to admit when she's made a mistake."
