True Romance is a 1993 American dark comedy crime film directed by Tony Scott and written by Quentin Tarantino. It began life as an early script by Tarantino; he sold the screenplay in order to finance his debut feature film, Reservoir Dogs (1992).
- This “was the first script I ever wrote,” he says before clarifying that he wrote several others before this, “but I never finished any of them.” He never made it past page thirty with the others, but this was the first time he found himself fully enamored with his story and characters.
