From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Joanna of Pfirt (French: Jeanne de Ferrette; c. 1300 – 15 November 1351) was the Countess of Pfirt in her own right from 1324 and Duchess of Austria as consort of Duke Albert II from 1330 until her death.
Johanna, Countess of Pfirt was born 1300 in Basel, Canton of Basel-Stadt, Switzerland to Ulrich III, Count of Pfirt (c1280-1324) and Jeanne de Montbéliard (c1290-c1349) and died 15 November 1351 in Vienna, Austria of unspecified causes. She married Albrecht II. von Habsburg (1298-1358) 26 March 1324 JL in Vienna, Austria.

Joanna of Burgundy (died 1349) was a daughter of Reginald of Burgundy and his wife, Guillemette of Neufchâtel. She married three times: With Ulrich III of Pfirt (d. 1324). They had two daughters: Joanna (1300-1351), married Albert II, Duke of Austria; Ursula, married Hugo of Hohenberg; With Rudolf Hesso of Baden-Baden (d. 1335), she had two more daughters:
Born in Vienna, Rudolf was the eldest son of Duke Albert II of Austria and Joanna of Pfirt. One of the third generation of Habsburg dukes in Austria, he was the first to be born within the duchy. Therefore, he considered Austria his home, a sentiment that no doubt communicated itself to his subjects and contributed to his popularity.

In 1401, William married another presumptive heiress, Princess Joanna of Naples, Hedwig's cousin and also of Angevin descent. The marriage did not produce any offspring and William did not live to see his wife succeed her brother Ladislaus of Naples as Queen Joanna II in 1414.
