Tadeusz Kutrzeba (15 April 1885 – 8 January 1947) was a general of the army during the Second Polish Republic. He served as a major general in the Polish Army in overall command of Army Poznań during the 1939 German Invasion of Poland.

Tadeusz Kutrzeba (1885-1947) – generał Wojska Polskiego, dowódca Armii „Poznań”, inicjator zaczepnego wyjścia nad rzekę Bzurę zwanego bitwą nad Bzurą. Urodził się 15 kwietnia w Krakowie. Pochodził z rodziny, w której silnie zakorzenione były tradycje wojskowe. Jego ojcem był kapitan armii austriackiej, Tomasz Kutrzeba, a matką Ludwika Szula.
The commander of Poznań Army, Tadeusz Kutrzeba noticed that the German 8th Army, which was commanded by General Johannes Blaskowitz, was weakly secured from the north by only the 30th Infantry Division, which stretched over a 30 km defensive line while the rest of the army was advancing towards Warsaw.

Jul 25, 2018 · The army’s commander, Tadeusz Kutrzeba, begged for permission to counterattack to the south but was denied. Finally, on Aug. 8, the Army H.Q. fell out of contact, so Kutrzeba spurred his army on a breakout toward Warsaw. By then, the Germans had lost track of the army’s position, and assumed it had already withdrawn.
