From the Urban Dictionary: “Camp” n. or “Campy” adj. refers to intentionally exaggerated thematic or genre elements, especially in television and motion picture mediums. “Camp” style willfully over-emphasizes certain elements of the genre or theme, creating an almost self-satirical milieu.

While often misrepresented or misunderstood, camp is a culturally important movement and style that has been around before pictures could even move.
Camp movies aren’t necessarily bad. I’ve included several films below that are critically acclaimed, but are still camp in my opinion. Although often, the negatively received films by wider audiences can sometimes. Find a niche and be dubbed camp and/or guilty pleasures.

Camp is a term that’s always been linked to queer culture, but it’s also heavily associated with old Hollywood: the over-acting, dramatic close-ups and outrageous plots. In retrospect, many classic movies are now viewed as camp although not intended at the time.
