•On September 4, 2020, it was announced that Anna Faris would not be returning to the role of Christy Plunkett for an eighth consecutive season. It was initially unexplained how her absence would be addressed in the series or if she would return as a guest in the future, but Kristen Johnston revealed shortly after that the character was "moving on to an awesome (sober) life".
