Grier’s father, Chad, was a Division I college football player. A quarterback himself for the East Carolina Pirates from 1989-1990.
Grier said she is of black, Hispanic, Chinese, Italian, Filipino, and Cheyenne heritage. She was raised Catholic and later baptized as a Methodist. Because of her father's military career, the family moved frequently during Grier's childhood.
Grier is from Charlotte, North Carolina and is the oldest child of Chad Grier and Elizabeth Grier-Floyd. His father is a football coach and was a former quarterback for the East Carolina Pirates . Grier's father Bobby was the associate director of Pro Scouting for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL). Prior to that, Bobby Grier was a running backs coach, director of pro scouting, and vice-president of player personnel for the New England Patriots of the NFL.
