  5. Doesn’t work because of the compression. Even if the uncompressed data is largely the same between two versions of the Wikipedia dump, the compressed files appear to share no common chunks. The gz2 files do have a separate index listing each article in the wiki but this won’t work either as it doesn’t include a hash of the article.
