Mill Valley is a city in Marin County, in the North Bay region of the Bay Area of California. The city begins in the canyons and ridges at the base of Mount Tamalpais and extends into a broad valley that reaches the Richardson Bay portion of the San Francisco Bay.
Mill Valley nestles below Mt. Tamalpais, cradled by the mountain foothills, its feet lapped by Richardson Bay. The earliest archaeological evidence we have of Indians living in Mill Valley comes from a site in Strawberry, where findings indicate that Indians were hunting and fishing on Richardson Bay over 5,000 years ago.
