Jan 1, 2022 · ODFW recently stocked all of Alton Baker Canoe Canal but the fish weren't having it, I caught 1 decent sized one underneath the concrete bridge at the first spillway, and lost it at the boat as I raked my brand new celilo trout rod against the metal grate and self tapping screws on the bottom of the bridge.....
The canoe canal is open to fishing all year and is located within Alton Baker Park. A 4-acre pond at the midpoint of the canal is a good spot, as is directly behind Kowloon Restaurant. However, the canal can be fished all along its two-mile length from Day Island Road in Eugene to Aspen Street in Springfield.

The Alton Baker Canoe Canal begins just east of I-5 in Springfield, runs under the interstate and through Alton Baker Park before reentering the Willamette River near the Ferry Street Bridge. In Springfield, the canal is accessed from Eastgate Woodlands Park.

Jun 30, 2015 · So I fished two evenings in a row at Alton Baker park w/o as much as a bump. 2lb flocarb leader, about 18 inches long, yellow-cheese flavor power bait, right in the middle of the canal. I was fed up so I decided to do a little experimenting and ventured to new, uncharted (by me) territory.
