The Good: The Shannara Chronicles is chock-full of spectacle. The sets are detailed and immense, the characters are intriguing, and the CGI is magnificent without being overbearing. The two standouts for me are Allanon and the Dagda Mor. Manu Bennett conveys just the right amount of power and mystery.
I'm biased as Shannara was my first major epic fantasy, but I loved Elfstones of Shannara (2nd book, and the source material for the shows), and Wishsong, it's follow up is pretty good to. I also think the Heritage of Shannara is worth a look.

There are elements of the show that make it an engrossing watch – interesting characters, good twists, great lighting and an excellent aesthetic make up the bulk of this but its let down by some clumsy dialogue choices.

Mar 4, 2016 · The Shannara Chronicles is a modernized remix on Terry Brooks' The Elfstones of Shannara, and took many of the high fantasy elements from that story and updated them with a more dystopian vibe.
