May 16, 2022 · Designed with preschoolers in mind, Candy Land is ideal for kids who don't yet know how to read or are just starting to learn. The game is recommended for kiddos as young as three, so it's often a child's first introduction to board games.
Candyland might be a good teaching tool for getting young children into concepts like turn taking and colours but that doesn't mean it's a good game design. It's an exercise in fatalism and you have no agency or freewill through the entire thing.
When your LO is a bit older (7-8) try Ticket to Ride the kids version. It’s a great strategy game with trains. My girls love it. Sequence is another good game that has a jr version and my 8f and 5f love to play it.
Great Classic Game. Candy Land is a fantastic classic board game. It is for ages 3 and up. The game is incredibly easy and kids of all ages love it. The game uses colors and pictures to tell you how many spaces to move. It is quick moving and the candy artwork is really fun. My family are big fans!
