HOLD YOUR MAN starts out as a brisk romantic comedy about a con man and a smart-talking dame (CLARK GABLE and JEAN HARLOW), and appears to be a perfect vehicle for the two stars. She aids him when he's fleeing from the police and they gradually form an intimate relationship.
During a botched blackmail scheme, Eddie accidentally kills the man they were setting up. Eddie takes off and Ruby is sent to a reformatory for two years. Ruby falls in love with small-time con man Eddie.
