   Reply. mattfasken. • 15 yr. ago • Edited 15 yr. ago. Michael Mann's Manhunter, which came out five years before Silence of the Lambs, is a lower-budget but far superior adaptation of the book Red Dragon. It's worth watching for Brian Cox's excellent turn as Hannibal Lecktor.
