I went to high school in Vienna, work in Oakton, and have family in Vienna (although I live in DC). It's an INSANELY safe area that's metro accessible. While it doesn't have the "fun" factor that living in the city or Arlington has, there are plenty of restaurants and bars for a decent nightlife, and plenty of shopping opportunities.
