  1. The Academy (忍者学校, アカデミー, Akademī, literally meaning: Ninja School) is a huge building in Konohagakure located directly at the base of the Hokage Mountain. It is where prospective ninja are trained and where official ninja receive their assignments.

    • Academy Ninja. The Ninja Academy is an early education centre for young residents of a village who want to one day become Shinobi. Essentially, in Naruto, The Ninja Academy is the educational system that gives an individual the knowledge and techniques they need to survive living in a world inhabited by Shinobi and provide them with the entry-level requirements necessary to graduate and become a Genin.
    • Genin. Genin are entry-level Ninja who have officially completed their graduation exam from the Ninja Academy. Upon being promoted to Genin, a ninja will be assigned to a three-man team alongside two other Genin.
    • Chunin. Once a Genin reaches a high enough level of skill, their team Sensei may see them as ready for a potential promotion to the Chunin Rank. This is a high-levelled Ninja Rank that is only obtainable by participating in the Chunin Exams, an event where all of the Hidden Villages come together to test and examine the skill of their Genin in a variety of different tests and combat challenges.
    • Jonin. As far as basic Ninja Ranks go, Jonin is the highest rank an individual can achieve. Most Jonin who reach this rank are at the age of young adult or adult when they are promoted, proving how much time, dedication, and skill is required to become one of the strongest and most relied upon Shinobi in the village.
  3. Academy students (忍者学校生, Akademī-sei) make up the student body of the Academy, where they are trained and prepared for life as a shinobi. They are not an actual part of the shinobi force, as they are still in the process of mastering the very basics of the ninja lifestyle.
