It has no connection to the other games, and honestly is the best one to start with because it’s very easy lol, that being said, you do need to watch Kingsglaive (the film) first which should be on Netflix and Hulu, and there is also the anime, Brotherhood, that gives some backstory on the protagonists. 5. I've googled around and bit and the general opinion from a year ago seems to be that you should watch the movie before playing, however people are saying scenes from the movie has been added into the game and updates have been made to the story from how it was on console release.

Sep 23, 2018 · If you want to be fully investing into the lore and story of XV, watch Kingsglaive (and possibly Brotherhood). Watching Kingsglaive is not nessesarily needed. The game does an ok job at get getting you up to speed with the story. Additionally, the story isn't yet fully complete. There is more story DLC to come.
