    ―Charles Xavier

The Westchester Incident was an event that occurred in 2028 of the revised timeline. After developing a degenerative brain disease, Charles Xavier had a telepathic seizure and lost control of his powers, causing six hundred people to be injured and the deaths of several members of the X-Men, in addition to the permanent destruction of Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. As a result, the U.S. government declared Charles Xavier's brain a "weapon of mass destruction", forcing him and Logan to hide in Mexico, near the edge of the Mexican-American border.

Sometime after the incident, Logan began giving Charles medication to ensure that similar attacks would not occur. Once an attack begins, only Logan and Laura had the ability to move and sedate him, although both had great difficulty doing so.

After Charles experienced another seizure that telepathically paralyzed everyone present at a hotel-casino in Oklahoma City, a radio broadcast noted similarities to the Westchester Incident while Logan, Charles, and Laura were driving away.

•James Mangold, the director and co-writer of Logan, originally planned to have the film open with the deaths of the X-Men. He decided to scrap the idea to keep Logan character-driven, instead of having the X-Men's tragic deaths be the primary focus of the film.

•The Westchester Incident is reminiscent of how the X-Men were killed in the original Old Man Logan storyline. Like its comics counterpart, the deaths of the X-Men involved a member of the team (Wolverine/Charles Xavier) accidentally killing them and becoming ashamed of what they did.
