Jun 3, 2023 · Although Reaper does not have its own virtual instruments, this does not stop it from being used as a platform for virtual instruments. All the major commercial instruments work well within it. In addition, there are many excellent freeware instruments available for no cost that can be used with Reaper.
- Step 1 - Setting Up Instruments. One thing that you may have found confusing about Reaper in the last tutorial is the fact that Reaper is not designed to distinguish between MIDI tracks and audio tracks.

Reaper will then open up the Effects browser with instruments selected on the left and now I have access to all of the virtual instruments on my system.
