- Nowhere Boy is a wonderfully done, poignant and surprisingly fun film that makes you understand and appreciate John Lennon as a man and an artist, warts and all. It also proves that a biopic doesn't need a huge budget, a cast of hundreds and a bloated running time to make you understand why its subject is special.

Nowhere Boy is a 2009 British biographical drama film, directed by Sam Taylor-Wood in her directorial debut. Written by Matt Greenhalgh, it is based on Julia Baird's biography of her half-brother, the musician John Lennon.
Dec 25, 2009 · The Boy Done Good! This biopic of John Lennon, taking his story from his schooldays in Liverpool up until the departure of the nascent Beatles for Hamburg, is an exceptional movie, quite the best I have seen during 2009.
Nowhere Boy is a fictional dramatization of the growing up years of JOhn Lennon, but has plenty of positives from the songs to cast delivering their roles with aplomb that made this a delight to sit through. Most definitely highly recommended, and goes into my shortlist for one of the best this year.
