East Link is a voter-approved project to expand light rail from downtown Seattle to the Eastside with stations serving Mercer Island, south Bellevue, downtown Bellevue, Bel-Red, and Redmond's Overlake area. The expected opening date has been adjusted from late 2023 to spring 2025 due to construction issues.

Sound Transit's East Link light rail line will extend 14 miles from downtown Seattle to the Overlake area in Redmond, with 10 stations in Mercer Island, South Bellevue, downtown Bellevue, BelRed (Bellevue) and Overlake. When in service, possibly in 2024 or 2025, East Link will be known as the 2 Line.
