      • Modestly made, Tremors is nonetheless a real crowd-pleaser, in part thanks to the chemistry between Ward and Bacon. While the film's got a modest budget, the script has real polish and integrity, as it hews close to the rules it sets and applies real logic and care to its scenes.

In the bottom spot is the most recent Tremors film, Tremors: A Cold Day in Hell. Made in 2018, A Cold Day in Hell is directed by Don Michael Paul, who also directed the fourth and fifth installments in the series. The film stars Michael Gross and Jamie Kennedy (Scream) as they journey to the Canadian arctic where they suspect DARPA is testing grabo...

Tremors 5: Bloodlinesalso finds itself in fifth place, following the survivalist Burt Gummer (Michael Gross) once again as he unwillingly gains a new sidekick in Travis Welker (Jamie Kennedy) and is hired to track down one of the ass-blasters—the flying form of the graboid—that has been terrorizing a rural community in South Africa. Following Burt ...

Tremors 4: The Legend Begins goes back to the 1800s in a prequel movie that follows the discovery of the graboids in Nevada. Despite the premise sounding like it’s going to be absolutely awful, the film is fairly passable. It does significantly better than other historical prequels of the same time period, such as Ginger Snaps Back: The Beginning, ...

Tremors 3: Back to Perfectionfollows Burt Gummer as the main character for the first time as he returns to Perfection just as giant monsters attack. Ass-blasters emerge in this film for the first time, as the graboids gain the ability to fly in their third evolution. Stalked by an albino graboid known as El Blanco, it's up to Burt and the other loc...

The original Tremors(1990) follows bored handymen, Val McKee (Kevin Bacon) and Earl Bassett (Fred Ward), as they decide to finally leave town just when giant worms show up and start murdering the locals. The handymen have to save the day along with the other locals as they struggle to fend off the worms and save the town. The beloved classic 90s mo...

Tremors 2: Aftershocks stars Fred Ward, reprising his role as Earl Bassett, who is convinced to kill graboids that have infested a Mexican oil refinery in exchange for $50,000 per monster killed. In order to get the job done, Earl calls in Burt Gummer for additional firepower, but the pair soon find that the graboids have evolved into a new form th...

    • Tremors, 30 Years Later. Thirty years ago, this week, one of the best films of 1990 was released. Tremors didn’t make a big splash in theaters. The film ended up grossing $16,667,084 at the domestic box office, which while making a profit due to its $11 million budget, was still below projected numbers.
    • The Script. Much has been said about the cast of Tremors which I’ll get to shortly, but what stood out the most watching it again, is the screenplay from S.S.
    • Val and Earl. At the heart, and at the center of the eccentric cast of characters is Kevin Bacon and Fred Ward playing Valentine McKee and Earl Bass, a pair of modern-day cowboys working as handymen who become would-be heroes when they stumble upon the shock-sensitive killer worms.
    • The Gummer Family. It doesn’t take long before it becomes apparent that there’s something unnatural roaming the desert and feeding on human flesh. Once Rhonda checks her readings and determines that the threat is coming from underground, Tremors begins to slowly open up and introduce us to the supporting cast which includes Reba McEntire and Michael Gross as the Gummer family, a pair of overzealous, gun-crazy survivalists.
  5. Repairmen Val McKee (Kevin Bacon) and Earl Bassett (Fred Ward) are tired of their dull lives in the small desert town of Perfection, Nev. But just as the two try to skip town, they happen upon a ...
