Nov 25, 2023 · Fremont Park is opposite of Menlo Church, which has been part of Menlo Park for over 125 years. The park is across University Avenue from Peet's Coffee and Tea shop (#2), which is their second shop ever opened - since 1966. During World War I, Fremont Park was the site of a U.S. Army tent camp.
Menlo Park history. In 1854, Menlo Park received its official name when two Irishmen, Dennis J. Oliver and D. C. McGlynn, purchased 1,700 acres (some sources say it was 640 acres) bordering County Road, now El Camino Real, and built two houses with a common entrance.
