Palatka (/ p ə ˈ l æ t k ə / ⓘ) is a city in and the county seat of Putnam County, Florida, United States. Palatka is the principal city of the Palatka Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is home to 72,893 residents.

Nestled alongside the St. Johns River 30 miles west of St. Augustine, Palatka is a Northeast Florida trail town full of history, culture, and an abundance of parks and nature preserves for hiking, biking, and paddling.
- Historic Homes. - Daron Dean for VISIT FLORIDA. Palatka boasts one of the largest concentrations of 19th and early 20th century houses in Florida, clustered mainly in two neighborhoods north and south of downtown.

- Ravine Gardens State Park. Within Palatka’s limits you can explore one of the nine Florida state parks built during the New Deal era. As you might guess, Ravine Gardens State Park is particularly known for its sharp ravines, some of which are more than 100 feet deep.
- Riverfront Park. The focus of a revitalization project in the 2010s, Riverfront Park is a great first stop for those new to the area. Next to the downtown area, this exquisite park sets the scene for a whole slew of events in Palatka, which I’ll talk about later.
- Downtown Palatka. Something I think everyone should do is spend a little time investigating Palatka’s historic downtown. Bounded to the north by Reid Street, this is spread across quite a large area, with a lot of beautiful brick commercial buildings, especially further east towards the river.
- Palatka Murals. Something I love to do in downtown Palatka is to take in the growing display of large-scale murals. With close to 30 when I went to press, these works are mostly along the intersecting streets between Reid Street and St. Johns Avenue.
Palatka is a town of 20,000 people on the banks of St. Johns River in North Central Florida. One of the earliest cities to develop in the state, the city is home to charming historic neighborhoods and notable state landmarks.
Located in Putnam county, Palatka, Florida, is a growing city, rich in history. Surrounded by smaller cities like Hastings, Interlachen and Florahome, the population is only 11,000 and with a landmass of about 10 square miles.
