    • The Ramones. One of the pioneering punk bands in the US and the world, the Ramones started in the NYC borough of Queens in 1974. The group got its name from the Beatles’ bassist Paul McCartney, who used “Ramon” as a fake surname when checking into hotels while on tour.
    • Sex Pistols. Up next we have Sex Pistols, who started the punk movement in the UK. Formed in 1975, they played a significant role in shaping the punk scene, challenging the existing music industry and paving the way for alternative and independent music scenes.
    • The Stooges. Also known as Iggy and the Stooges, the Stooges displayed punk-like naughtiness before the genre surfaced. The band, comprised of lead singer Iggy Pop, bassist Dave Alexander, guitarist Ron Ashton, and drummer Scott Asheton, formed in Michigan in 1967.

    • The Sex Pistols. Probably one of the most gratuitously juvenile bands to ever shape the popular imagination, The Sex Pistols were a woefully short-lived act that was never given the chance to grow out of their petulant tantrums.
    • The Ramones. I get a bit emotional when I talk about the Ramones – they have such an earnest, frank, optimistic place in my heart and my history.
