May 1, 2024 · From my time spent exploring, here are my favourite places…. 1. Dinant. This under-the-radar beautiful gem of a city sits on the banks of the river Meuse in Belgium’s Walloon region. The picturesque town is backed by a spectacular sheer cliff face and protected by the ancient fortified citadel.

- Bruges. Let’s start the list with an obvious one. Bruges is easily one of the most beautiful places in the country, and, no doubt, the most famous. The fairytale town is almost synonymous with Belgium, attracting over 8 million tourists seeking a dreamy stay.
- Brussels. Closing off the list with one of the most popular destinations in Belgium, Brussels is the country’s capital, known for its exquisite architecture and unique history.
- De Haan. Belgium isn’t all castles and medieval cities. Located on the northern shores of the country, just a short drive northwest of Bruges, De Haan is a seaside heaven not to be missed when visiting Belgium.
- Borrekens Castle. Disney’s biggest fans couldn’t imagine a more beautiful castle if they tried. Borrekens Castle, a true fairytale, was first constructed in 1270 by a member of a noble family of the time.
- Bruges. One of the most beautiful cities in Belgium, Bruges, is often compared to a page from a fairy tale book. Walking through its cobblestone streets, you’ll find yourself charmed by the medieval architecture, quaint shops, and whimsical charm that define this city.
- Ghent. Second on our list of Belgium’s beautiful places is the vibrant city of Ghent. Often overshadowed by its more famous counterparts Brussels and Bruges, Ghent is an unspoiled gem that deserves recognition in its own right.
- Antwerp. Welcome to Antwerp, a city that blends old-world charm with contemporary fashion and culture. This makes it one of the most beautiful places in Belgium.
- Brussels. Next up is Brussels, the vibrant capital city of Belgium. As one of the most beautiful cities in Belgium, Brussels is a city of contrasts with enormous diversity when it comes to sights and attractions.
- Reading Between the Lines (Doorkijkkerk) This see-through church is located in Borgloon, in the province of Limburg. The region surrounding it is famous for its wineries and as you make your way to the chapel, you will pass numerous fruit fields.
- Walzin Castle. Even though this castle is private and cannot be visited, this is one of my favourite castles in Belgium. Walzin Castle is perched high on top of a rock overlooking the River Lesse, making it look like a castle out of a fairytale.
- Tros Marets Valley. The valley of the Tros Marets, near Malmedy in the Belgian Ardennes, is a breathtaking place that offers a lot of variation. While parts of this valley consist of beautiful moor landscapes, you will also find enchanting forests and numerous streams leading to cascades here.
- Bruges. It is no surprise that Bruges is one of the most visited places in the country. If you’re asking me, this enchanting city alone is a good reason to visit Belgium!

It is the seat of many important European organisations. As a result, Brussels is an incredibly international and multicultural city.
