Amateur Nite is the sixteenth episode of Season 4 of The Brady Bunch, and the 88th overall episode of the series. Written by Sam Locke and Milton Pascal and directed by Jack Arnold, it first aired 26 January 1973 on ABC.

Jan's misunderstanding of the price of an anniversary gift leaves the kids scrambling for cash, so they participate in a television talent show as "The Silver Platters".

Taking them six months to save enough money, the kids have purchased a silver platter for their parent's wedding anniversary. Wanting the gift to be even more special, Jan secretly has the platter engraved with all the sibling's names. However, she misinterprets the cost of the engraving, which is not 85¢ as she believes, but rather 85¢ per letter for a grand total of $56, money which she and her siblings don't have. So they have to figure out a way to raise the money within the week. After the kids exhaust other options such as selling personal items and even trying to take out a loan from a bank, Jan has an idea that could net them $100: perform on the Pete Sterne Amateur Hour, the first prize being $100. They have to pass the audition and win the contest, neither of which are guarantees, and all without their parents or Alice finding out.

The kids pass the auditions and land a spot on the show under the group name The Silver Platters. They sneak out of the house the day of the taping, claiming to be going to Greg's football game. However, Alice happens to turn on the Amature Hour just as the kids are starting to perform, and she, Mike, and Carol enjoy the surprise performance. They also learn about Jan's mix-up with the anniversary present when the kids are interviewed about what they might do with the prize money. The Silver Platters win third place, much to their dismay, and win a plaque, which ironically will also have all their names engraved on it, but Mike and Carol consider their performance to be a suitable anniversary present, and they pay the bill to claim the actual platter.
