The Dana Adobe at Rancho Nipomo provides a step back in time to early California. Originally part of the lands of the Chumash, Rancho Nipomo became a Mexican Land Grant given to Captain William Goodwin Dana in 1837. Initially Rancho Nipomo was more than 48,000 acres.

Introduction. The Dana Adobe or "Casa de Dana" is a historic landmark in Nipomo, California, lying about 25 miles south of San Luis Obispo. It was one of the earliest adobe dwellings built in San Luis Obispo County and became the celebrated home of William Goodwin Dana, his wife Maria Josefa Carrillo Dana and their very large family.
