      • The Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) are K–12 science content standards. Standards set the expectations for what students should know and be able to do.   4. More than a decade ago, the K-12 Framework for Education and the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) shifted states’ notions of what constitutes the core of science skills and knowledge that students need to thrive in school and beyond.
