This society is found among both the Northern and the Southern Cheyenne. This was the society of the famous warrior Roman Nose, and also of the mixed-race Cheyenne George Bent.

Feb 14, 2022 · Roman Nose, one of the most hard-line Cheyenne, with an intimidating and sometimes flamboyant personality, often worked with the Dog Soldiers. To be fair, he was actually a member of the Elk Warrior Society, but that doesn't mean Roman Nose, who was also called Hook Nose or Woquini, didn't work with the Dog Warriors.

- Dog Soldiers come from Cheyenne military societies. Sweet Medicine separated Cheyenne’s civil and military governments. Chiefs were each responsible for local affairs and the well-being of their people.
