  2. May 4, 2024 · As of May 1, Godzilla Minus One is now streaming on Amazon Prime Video in Japan, but no U.S. release date has been revealed. However, that does not mean American audiences cannot watch the film; it just requires a bit of work beforehand.

    Godzilla Minus One is being heralded as one of the best Godzilla movies in years, if not ever. IGN's Godzilla Minus One review called it "a rousing, spectacle-filled blockbuster" with a strong character-driven story and "exciting and effective" monster scenes.

    Godzilla Minus One is now in theaters. To find when and where you can watch the movie near you, check the local showtime listings at the main theater sites below:

    Godzilla Minus One is not currently available to stream, and there's been no word on when or where it will eventually be released. We'll update this with new information as it becomes available.

    Godzilla Minus One is the first live-action Godzilla movie from Japanese production and distribution company Toho since 2016. It takes Godzilla back to the character's post-WWII origin. Here's the official plot synopsis:

    The worst despair in the series' history strikes Japan! After the war, Japan has been reduced to zero. Godzilla appears and plunges the country into a negative state. The most desperate situation in the history of Japan. Who? And how? Will Japan stand up to it?

    The dozens of previously released Godzilla movies are spread across many streaming services, though the best selection appears on Max, which has a dozen Godzilla movies ranging from the 1954 original to 2021's Godzilla vs. Kong.     However, Toho's previous live-action entry in the franchise, Shin Godzilla, is available to stream on Crunchyroll. If you don't have that streaming service, you can rent or buy it from the digital storefronts listed below:

    Godzilla Minus One was written and directed by Takashi Yamazaki. It stars the following actors:

    Godzilla Minus One is Rated PG-13 for creature violence and action. The film runs for a total of 2 hours and 5 minutes including credits.
