Isaiah is the first of the Major Prophets and his name means “salvation of God” or “the Lord helps me.” They are essentially the same in meaning because if a person receives the salvation of the Lord, they receive the help of the Lord. Isaiah was one of the few prophets who were called that were aristocratic by nature…that is, he was well to do.
