      • Interestingly, the movie never revealed who was behind its construction. The movie’s exploration of Kong’s Hollow Earth history led to the assumption among some that the Kongs themselves constructed the Hollow Earth temple and the magnificent statues of the giant gorillas.

The Kong temple was a temple located in Hollow Earth that first appeared in the 2021 film, Godzilla vs. Kong.

    Composition

The Kong Temple is located within a vast cave in the Hollow Earth. It is the ancient stronghold of the Titanus Kong superspecies, and provided shelter and safety for the creatures. Leading up to the entrance of the temple are the ruins of ancient Kong statues. The entrance to the temple is constructed of two massive sliding stone doors. From the entrance, stairs large enough for a Titan to walk down lead to the center of the temple. Here, a massive throne sits facing towards the entrance. Near the throne, a prehistoric mural of Godzilla extends across the floor, and was used as a charging station for the ancient Kongs' weapons, which were constructed out of deceased Gojira dorsal plates. Also near the throne, the skeletal remains of a Titanus Gojira killed sometime before the temple's abandonment. Behind the throne is another massive Kong statue. The temple itself sits atop a massive deposit of Hollow Earth energy. •The entrance is located at the base of the Hollow Earth. •The throne is the main section of the temple. •The arena is the location for killing for any intruders.

    Backstory

The Titanus Kong superspecies once inhabited the temple, and became the dominant species in the Hollow Earth until the war. From this temple, the Kongs created weapons, intricately carved statues, and even a massive throne which was presumably to be used by an alpha. Eventually, having mutually suffered great losses in their war against Godzilla's kind leaving behind the skeletons of Kongs and Gojiras alike, the surviving Kongs decided to leave and abandoned the temple, migrating to Skull Island. At some point before this, likely during the war, an unknown Titan (implied to be another Titanus Gojira in the film's novelization), was killed with an axe strike to the skull, its skeletal remains being found eons later in the center of the temple by Kong.

While leading the Apex expedition crew through the Hollow Earth, Kong discovers the temple and enters. Having been told by Jia that he could possibly have family still alive, Kong roars aloud in the temple but receives no response. He heads further in, discovering the skeletal remains of a Titanus Gojira with an axe embedded in its skull. After claiming the axe, Kong heads for the temple's throne and sits upon it, observing the vastness of the temple. Kong then observes a mural of Godzilla engraved into the ground, and notices grooves where his new axe can fit into. Curious, he places the axe into a groove and watches as it charges with Hollow Earth energy, empowering it. Noticing this as a source of energy capable of powering Mechagodzilla, Maia Simmons orders her men to extract a sample of it to be sent to the surface, despite the protests of Ilene Andrews. After having her men put Ilene, Jia, and Nathan Lind at gunpoint, Kong roars in anger, agitating the resident Hellhawks. As the demonic creatures descend upon the temple and begin killing Apex soldiers and swarming Kong, a blast of Godzilla's atomic breath suddenly drills through the ceiling, dispersing the Hellhawks. After killing Maia, Kong grabs his axe and heads to the surface to face off against Godzilla. Ilene, Jia, and Nathan enter their HEAV and follow Kong, leaving the temple behind as it begins collapsing.
