Spike's mentor was an unnamed character who appeared only in A Long Time Ago, a short, 1-page story in the semi-recurring though mostly fazed out "Spike's stories" section. In contrast to the usual set up of the story, neither Spike nor Angel Bunny introduced the readers to the story, instead they now worked for this painter as his apprentice.
