- Daylight saving time, also known as DST, is a practice where we advance the clocks by one hour on the second Sunday of March and set them back by one hour on the first Sunday of November, at 2 a.m. The goal of DST is to make better use of the varying daylight hours caused by the Earth tilting at different points during its orbit.
