Early Life. Robert Taylor was born on August 5, 1911 in Filley, Nebraska. He was the son of a farmer, and his family moved to Beatrice, Nebraska when he was a young boy. Taylor was an avid reader and enjoyed playing sports, particularly football. He attended Beatrice High School, where he was an active member of the school's football team.
