    Twentieth Century Home Entertainment (a.k.a Twentieth Century Studios Home Entertainment; previously known as Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment or 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment) was the home video distributor arm of all films released by 20th Century Studios (including Searchlight Pictures and Blue Sky Studios) and television series produced by 20th Television, Touchstone Television, and FX Productions. The company adopted its then-current name in 1995.

    As of 2020, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment has been retired by Disney as a separate subsidiary and renamed 20th Century Studios Home Entertainment, but the "Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, LLC" name still remains as the copyright holder for 20th Century Studios releases prior to 2021.

    Background

    20th Century Studios Home Entertainment started in 1976 under the name Magnetic Video. Magnetic Video changed its name to 20th Century-Fox Video. After MGM's deal with CBS expired, CBS formed a partnership with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment, under the name CBS/Fox Video which started in 1982. It stopped releasing home video titles in 1998 and closed their partnership in 2001. For a brief period in 1987, before the studio's videocassette duplication facilities were acquired by VCA/Technicolor, CBS/Fox served as the official duplicator for Walt Disney Home Video. In 1990, CBS/Fox started a video duplication partnership with Rank Video Services America, a partnership that would last a decade. In 1991, another home video company was established named "Fox Video", which existed until its closure in 1998. In 1995, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment was founded and distributed VHS, Betamax, DVD, Laserdisc, and Blu-ray releases of 20th Century Fox films and television series.

    Disney ownership

    In 2019, Disney acquired 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment through its purchase of 21st Century Fox. Starting with Dark Phoenix, the home video distribution of 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures, and Blue Sky Studios films, 20th Century Fox Television, Fox 21 Television Studios, FXP series, is handled by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, with 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment still operated as the subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment due to the distribution deal with MGM and Annapurna Pictures (although the former deal expired in 2020). 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment had also retained the distribution rights to the first six Star Wars movies prior to Disney's acquisition of 21st Century Fox. was its final TCFHE release before it transferred to Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment (using Buena Vista Home Entertainment as its legal name) as the future home media distributor as 20th Century Studios in-name label/banner is now part of WDSHE. As a result, many viewers would begin to refer to the subsidiary as Twentieth Century Studios Home Entertainment or TCSHE; the new name eventually became official.
