A Medicine for Melancholy is a mixed bag of short stories by Ray Bradbury. A decent amount of them focus on Man's futile attempts to colonize Mars, a theme Bradbury focused on entirely in his excellent book The Martian Chronicles. Some of the stories I would classify as horror, and some are a bit hard to classify.
