Dismayed when his mother marries Englishman Roger Carlton (Ian Hunter), teenager Tim Dennis (Mickey Rooney) chafes at leaving America and his college football dreams to move to England. His mother convinces Tim to try Eton College for six months, but once there he clashes with the traditions of the conservative students -- who are led by Roger's son, school head boy Peter (Freddie Bartholomew).
