Dec 13, 2023 · Founded in 1749, Alexandria, Virginia, boasts a rich history and is one of my favorite destinations in Virginia (it is such a good weekend break!). Once home to George Washington, the city’s Old Town area showcases beautifully preserved 18th- and 19th-century architecture along the iconic King Street.
Old Town is Alexandria’s beloved downtown and nationally designated historic district on the Potomac River waterfront. The King Street Mile and surrounding brick-lined sidewalks are studded with centuries-old architecture, historic attractions and independent businesses.
