Alfred Kleiner (24 April 1849 – 3 July 1916) was a Swiss physicist and Professor of Experimental Physics at the University of Zurich. He was Albert Einstein 's doctoral advisor or Doktorvater. Initially Einstein's advisor was Heinrich F. Weber .
Thereafter Alfred Kleiner mentioned the possibility of employment at the University of Zurich to Einstein and recommended him to the faculty for a newly- created professorship in theoretical physics.
