Animal Care Services (ACS) provides animal control and pet adoption services. Adopt or foster a pet. Search lost and found pets. Get low cost pet health services such as spay, neuter, and vaccinations.
Animal Control. Mission. To prevent cruelty, abuse and neglect of animals in Frederick County by enforcing all state, county and city ordinances. We shelter homeless animals and place them in safe and loving home environments.
State and local laws define how animal control services are provided to your community. For example, state law defines the number of days a stray animal must be held at a shelter before being available for adoption. Each state government has a website where you can find its current laws.

We are the only animal shelter for Frederick County, Maryland. We take in unwanted pets from Frederick County residents only. We also take in strays with hopes of reuniting them with their owner. We will adopt to out of county residents and out of state residents, but we do NOT ship our pets.
Animal Control. Animal control officers as designated by County Executive's Office shall act as the enforcement authority for the animal control and licensing provisions of the city, acting under the general supervision of the Frederick County Animal Control Center.
