Anis Cheurfa is a stuntman, actor, and tricker. He portrayed Rinzler in TRON: Legacy.
Cheurfa is a French native of Algerian ancestry. He describes himself as having been a martial artist since he was ten years old, and is a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. During his adolescence, he was introduced to tricking, the unique fighting style later used in TRON: Legacy, and practiced the art for eight years.
He moved from Paris, France, to Los Angeles to be close to his girlfriend and to work on his tricking, which he describes as a combination of "some of the basic martial arts -- taekwondo mostly because it's a lot of kicking -- [and] gymnastics, capoeira, some break-dancing motion." He credits his brother for introducing him to tricking by showing him a video of Steve Terada practicing the art.
Cherufa stated that his role in TRON: Legacy came about when Joseph Kosinski came to his gym ask for martial artists to work with the identity discs, and chose him to portray Rinzler because he had "the perfect height and athleticism."
In a 2010 interview, he described Rinzler as a henchman character, comparing his role in the story to that of Darth Maul in Star Wars. He was pleased that the movie largely avoided wirework and enjoyed working with Garrett Hedlund and Olivia Wilde.
