May 16, 2022 · Anne Hyde (12 Mar 1637 – 31 Mar 1671) was the first wife of James, Duke of York and Albany, later King James II and VII of England, Scotland and Ireland. Anne was the eldest daughter of Edward Hyde and his second wife Frances Aylesbury. She was born in 1637 at Cranbourne Lodge in Windsor and named for Edward's first wife, Anne Ayliffe.
Anne Denman (1587–1661) was born in Olde Hall, Retford, Nottinghamshire. Through a second marriage with Thomas Aylesbury, she became the grandmother of Lady Anne Hyde, Duchess of York and great-grandmother of Queen Mary II and Queen Anne.
