An important figure in contemporary Australian poetry, Lawrence has received numerous grants, awards and prizes, is widely read and anthologized, with 12 collections of poetry. Besides poetry he has written a novel, In the Half Light (Picador, 2000).
Anthony Lawrence, born 1957, in Tamworth, New South Wales, has published fifteen books of poetry and his work has won many of Australia’s most prestigious awards, including the 2017 Prime Minister’s Literary Award for Poetry. He teaches Writing Poetry at Griffith University, Gold Coast, and lives on Moreton Bay, Queensland.
