Oct 16, 2021 · Ardem Patapoutian had his mobile phone on silent when the 2021 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was announced (it was 2:30 AM in California). It was his 94-year-old father who eventually brought the news of his award. “It was a pretty amazing experience to hear it from him”, Patapoutian told The Lancet.
